Ranked #2 in Photography and #8 in Travel the Kindle eBook store during the launch weekend!
At first glance, few can imagine the diversity, quality, and vastness of nature, culture, music, mojitos and margaritas that exists between the 180 or so miles that separate North Miami Dade from Key West. That’s where this interactive guide may be helpful to you. Miami and the Florida Keys explores over fifty photo–worthy locations; from a 12th century Ancient Spanish Monastery, to exotic tropical gardens, kayaking adventures, and prime picturesque locations. Over 300 high-resolution images serve as a visual–guide to locations enjoyed by visitors of all ages, and equally by photographers and their non-photographer friends. Many of the excursions offer complimentary or low cost admission – with most “tourist trap” experiences intentionally absent from the guide. Each location is hyperlinked to a map page with corresponding reviews embedded in the hyperlinks. Hidden gem restaurants, attractions, and accommodations are hyperlinked to online websites – these local favorites are places we’ve enjoyed on past trips and frequent when in the area. Additionally, photography terms and techniques are hyperlinked to online resources to help you capture postcard worthy locations. We think you’ll agree, Miami and the Florida Keys, isn’t a typical tourist or travel photography book, rather a guide to over fifty locations that offer postcard worthy experiences for tourist, residents, and traveling photographers.

The west side of the park’s canopy is topped by old growth oak trees with branch tops layered in vivid green moss. The highest trees shower long curtains of Spanish moss – adding to the parks Southern charm. A typical visit includes up close sightings of ibis, snowy egrets, butterflies, iguanas, and raccoons. Across Arch Creek Bridge is a paved walking loop through a forest of dense hardwoods and tropical plants. Insect repellant is recommended before walking or jogging the paved path. The park is close to Oleta River State Park and Haulover Park .

If you’re in-tune with your intuition, you’ve likely experienced during travels a special sensation when a place just feels right. Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park might be one of those places to you. When I first encountered the Enchanted Forest Park, it felt out of place, an oasis from the congested traffic and strip malls that make up this area of North Miami. Intimate in size at only 22 acres, the entrance is easily missed. Once there, you’ll soon understand why the Miami New Times chose this park as the “best place for a picnic.” Photographers and visitors alike gravitate to three areas of the park: the equestrian arena with rag tag horses that love human attention, the wooden arch bridge that crosses Arch Creek as it dissects the park, and the creek fountain that attracts tropical birds located near the entrance. Change to a wide-angle lens and shoot from a low–angle to showcase the “enchanted” feel of the park.
